The General Data Protection Regulation

What is the GDPR?

We live in a rapidly advancing world - and technology is the primary driver of this evolution. With this, data protection laws quickly deteriorated and were outpaced by technological evolution. Thus, there was a very apparent need for a fortification of data protections and regulations. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which passed into law on May 25, 2018, aims to strengthen these laws and create a uniform system across the member states of the European Union.

The GDPR applies to the processing of personal data by organizations based both inside the EU and outside the EU as long as those organizations offer goods and services to individuals in the EU, even if those goods or services are free.

inBrain and GDPR

As a company operating within the EU with publishers, advertisers, and end-users across the globe, inBrain is subject to GDPR compliance. inBrain invokes the same standards of transparency to all end users, regardless of geography.

As a controller of personal data, we make decisions about processing activities and how to best fit in with the highest industry standards. inBrain exercises overall control of the personal data being processed, and is ultimately responsible for the processing of data.

About our GDPR Compliance for Advertising

In order to comply with GDPR and with six viable legal bases available, inBrain invokes that process which allows for personal data to be handled properly. inBrain relies on consent and on legitimate interest (depending on the type of processing) as its lawful bases for processing personal data.

Among other things, the GDPR changed the rules relating to opt-ins, which must be freely given, specific, informed, unambiguous and involve clear and concise action. inBrain’s current user transparency and consent solution (Choice Manager, below) gives clear information and real choice to end-users.

inBrain Choice Manager

To help organizations manage the complexity of GDPR compliance for Advertising and user consent, inBrain.ai offers a Consent and Preference Management Platform (CPMP).

With one simple integration you can:

  • Combine all consent notices from every demand partner, tech solution, tracking or analytics provider in one convenient place
  • Make giving or withdrawing consent clear, easy and non-disruptive
  • Provide choice and build trust by giving users the option to opt-in and share their mobile journey signals to access free content, or the option to pay with money
